From Startup Dreams to Regional Destinations: Two Chamber Families Show How Small Ideas Grow Big Momentum Building as Local Entrepreneurs Choose Chamber Partnership
The Hulett Chamber of Commerce continues its remarkable growth story with two distinctly different but equally inspiring family businesses joining the membership family.
From a home-based bakery following passion to a multi-business operation serving thousands, these new members prove that in our Northern Black Hills community, big dreams start with small steps.
Reveille Bakery: Where Love Meets Flour

Deb Bears and her son Michael Boudreau receive their Hulett Chamber of Commerce membership plaque and decals in front of their food tent setup in Hulett Park, where they introduced Louisiana cuisine to curious neighbors.
Sometimes the best businesses start simply because someone loves what they do. That's exactly how Deb Bears built Reveille Bakery from her home kitchen into one of Hulett's most sought-after services for special occasions. "Everything made from scratch, just because she loves to do it," captures the heart of Reveille Bakery perfectly. What began as a passion for baking has evolved into Hulett's go-to source for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, and celebration cakes that warm hearts throughout the community. Deb's now-famous homemade sourdough bread has become legendary among locals, available by special order and occasionally from her Main Street tent setup. Her expanding menu includes sourdough bread, custom cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, and an growing variety of cookies – all crafted with the personal touch that makes small-town businesses special. Last week, Deb's son Michael Boudreau brought a taste of Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Hulett Park, serving up Pastalaya (jambalaya with pasta instead of rice), corn, cowboy cookies, and dinner rolls. The enthusiastic community response showed how our area embraces both tradition and innovation. As demand grows, Deb is investing in bigger ovens and more bread pans to expand her operation. "She's a startup business in demand," ready to hit new heights as Hulett's party planners' best-kept secret becomes an open celebration of homegrown excellence.
Besler Family Enterprises: From Vision to Destination
The Besler family represents the other end of the entrepreneurial spectrum – taking bold ideas and scaling them into regional destinations that put our area on the map for visitors from across the country.
Besler's Cadillac Ranch transforms over a thousand acres along South Dakota's beautiful Red Water River into the perfect venue for life's most important celebrations. Their authentic two-story reception barn, romantic log chapel, covered bridge, and honeymoon suite create dream wedding experiences in a breathtaking Black Hills setting.
Beyond weddings, the ranch offers full-service event hosting, camping beneath the stars, RV hookups, cabins, and horse boarding facilities. Their pristine riverfront property and high standards of care make them a complete destination for both celebrations and recreation.

Stone House Saloon tells an equally compelling growth story. What started in 2000 as the Kling family's simple idea – a water trough full of ice-cold beer and black Sharpies for visitors to sign the stone house walls during Sturgis Rally – has evolved into a legendary stop on the scenic back roads route to Devils Tower and Yellowstone National Park.
When Chris and Rose Ann Besler purchased Stone House Saloon in 2018, they honored the original family business spirit while adding a dance floor, lifted stage, and covered sections. Their commitment to "keep the quaintness of the outdoor bar in the middle of nowhere" while growing the business shows how vision and values can coexist.
Known throughout the region for "the world's best bloody mary" and "the CLEANEST bathrooms in the West," Stone House Saloon proves that attention to detail and customer experience create lasting success.
The Common Thread: Passion Plus Persistence
What connects Reveille Bakery's home kitchen startup with Besler's multi-business operation? Both families understand that sustainable success comes from combining genuine passion with persistent growth, one satisfied customer at a time.
"Whether you're starting small with an idea and sticking with it, or scaling up to serve thousands, family-owned businesses are the backbone of our community's character," said Chamber Director Bunny Engberg. "Deb and the Besler family show that our Chamber supports entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey."
Both operations exemplify the "back roads" philosophy that defines our region – taking the scenic route to success while maintaining the authentic character that makes our area special.
